Project Description

Organization:
Butte County Public Health Department

Summary:
The Butte County Public Health Department’s employees lead Let’s Get Steppin’, a workplace wellness initiative involving a walking/movement challenge. Employees were encouraged to form teams and count their steps or other physical activity movement converted into steps. Pedometers were provided and a pre-challenge health fair provided blood pressure checks, BMI and nutrition tips. Approximately 25 percent of county employees participated and the post-challenge survey indicated positive health benefits including reduced stress, better sleep, weight loss, lower blood pressure, and increased energy.
