Project Description
Organization:
City of Santa Monica
Summary:
Prioritizing Community Wellbeing, From Cradle to Career, expands the definition of public health to include multi-dimensional, social determinants of health in a defined Santa Monica community. The project is data driven and creates a broad measure of community well-being with an emphasis on 3 steps: define the problem, measure it, and then act to create meaningful strategies and interventions to address the problem. This community driven project, developed for the community and by the community, could be a model for other cities in California and aligns with innovative approaches to improving public health being developed by the RAND Corporation, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the United Nations, and the World Bank.
