Summary:
Zero Emissions Squared converted a diesel school bus serving a low-income area to solar-powered. The new bus reduces exposure of school children to diesel exhaust and reduces operating costs for the school district. Zero Emissions Squared built a public-private collaboration that includes the bus design/manufacturer, funding models that will allow schools to purchase the buses and pay back the cost with their fuel savings; educational partners to train drivers and mechanics; and solar fueling partners.
